An impressive group of admirers, collaborators and friends are set to join “Rock Me Gently/Sugar Sugar” hitmaker Andy Kim for his 7th annual Andy Kim Christmas Show, December 14 at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto.

Sam Roberts, Lights, Ron Sexsmith, Alex Lifeson from Rush, Kevin Drew and Brendan Canning from Broken Social Scene, James Black and Rick Jackett from Finger Eleven, Sarah Harmer, BUCK65, Emma-Lee, Honeymoon Suite, Dru and comedian Sean Cullen are all onboard.

This year, Kim has chosen Toronto’s Julliette’s Place (Homeward Family Shelter) to receive all the proceeds from the ticket sales. The centre is a refuge for women and their children who have left an abusive home life and require all kinds of services and assistance.  Often fleeing an abuser with little or no belongings, Julliette’s Place provides clothing, food, beds, toys — and safety.

Tickets for the show are $25 (inc. HST but plus service charges) and are available at all Ticketmaster, Rotate This, Soundscapes, online at ticketweb.ca or by calling 416-870-8000. The Phoenix is at 410 Sherbourne Street. Doors at 7 p.m.

During this one-of-a-kind charity event, concert-goers will be treated to a classic variety-style entertainment show that includes holiday performances and many collaborative moments, with the musicians often joining each other onstage in the band or singing along.

Most of these artists are big fans of Kim's. The Montreal-born singer-songwriter was 16-years-old when he went to New York City and composed “How’d We Ever Get This Way?, the first of nine Billboard Top 40 hits, including “Rock Me Gently” and “Sugar, Sugar,” which both reached No. 1.  “Rock Me Gently” alone sold six million copies worldwide — on his own independent label.

Kim won a Juno Award in 1970 for Top Male Vocalist and a 2005 Indie Award for Favorite Solo Artist.   He is a member of Songwriters Hall of Fame and was inducted into Billboard’s Hit Parade Hall of Fame in 2010.

Over his 40-plus year career, he has sold over 33 million records, with his songs covered by such acts as The Archies, Wilson Pickett, Tom Jones, Ike & Tina Turner, and Bob Marley. His latest album, 20010, Happen Again (eOne Music Canada), was his first album in more than two decades.
