Harry Styles Sells Charity T-Shirt For WHO’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund

English singer and activist Harry Styles has released a t-shirt emblazoned with the simple directive “Stay Home Stay Safe. Protect Each Other,” with all proceeds going to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund for the World Health Organization’s United Nations Foundation, which itself has managed to raise more than $100 million (USD) in less than two weeks.

As of April 8, over $140 million has been raised from over 229,000 donors.

The shirt sells for $26 USD with an expected delivery date between four to six weeks.

 “In times like these, it is more important than ever to remember the power of people,” said the 26-year-old Styles in a statement. “If you are able to help, please donate where you can. 100% of the profits of this t-shirt will go towards fighting COVID-19. Stay home, self-isolate, and protect each other. TPWK.”  

TPWK — Treat People with Kindness — has long been Styles modus operandi. He has worn it on pins, sold t-shirt for charity and wrote a song of that name on his latest album, Fine Line. He often uses it to sign off, as he did with the happy-message web site bot he launched called Do You Know Who You Are, to mark World Mental Health Day.

The back of the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund shirt reads (in smaller block letters than the front): “This T-shirt fights COVID-19. Treat people with kindness.”

Monies raised from the sale of the shirt goes to support WHO’s “work to track and understand the spread of the virus; to ensure patients get the care they need and frontline workers get essential supplies and information; and to accelerate efforts to develop vaccines, tests, and treatments,” the press release states.

“The UN Foundation brings together the ideas, people, and resources the United Nations needs to drive global progress and tackle urgent problems.”

Styles, a one-time member of boy band One Direction, has worked with young adult cancer charity Trekstock, clean water charity Drop4Drop and donated his hair to Little Princess Trust. His 2017 self-titled debut solo album landed a No. 1 album in 55 countries and his first world tour raised more than $1.2 million for 62 charities around the world.
