Donate & Party — for which one must register — will be held at the YWCA Downtown (Elm St.) from 5:30 – 9 p.m. on Dec. 2, and includes presentations from online marketing experts, and will provide complimentary drinks, snacks and live entertainment. While it is listed as a free event, the suggested donated is $20 and is tax deductable. The goal is to raise $4000.
"I started the Donate & Learn initiative two years ago based on the simple desire to give back to the local community, and with the help of my network, sponsors and media partners make as big of an impact as possible,” Bassem Ghali, head of client strategy at Green Lotus and founder of Donate & Learn, tells Samaritanmag.
To date, Green Lotus charity event throughout the year have raised more than $18,000 for the YWCA, Big Brothers Big Sisters and other local charities.
“Because it is the second anniversary of our initiative, we decided to change things up and have a holiday Donate & Party event where it all started, at the YWCA Toronto. The YWCA provides numerous programs and support for disadvantaged women. The Adopt-A-Family Program which is the beneficiary of the December 2nd event gives women and women-led families the chance to do something nice for the holidays and we are delighted to be able to help."
In addition to Ghali, the other speaker will be Lisa Kember, Canadian regional marketing director at Constant Contact.
Who should attend? Green Lotus’ web site reads.
“Whether you are just getting started planning your online marketing strategy, or deep into implementation; Donate & Learn Events will provide you with networking opportunities as well as the knowledge, strategies and tools needed to improve your social media and online marketing results.”
Sponsoring the Donate & Party are Ka Media, Canadian Association of Marketing Professionals (CAMP), Green Lotus and Constant Contact.
