Doctors, nurses, paramedics, cashiers, retail managers and others who have been deemed essential workers are risking contracting COVID-19 to keep us healthy, fed and as safe as possible.

To honour these frontline heroes, Station Cold Brew, one of Canada’s first cold brew coffee manufacturers, has launched a 1 for 1 program. For every case of their cold brew coffee and cascara ice tea sold, the Toronto-based company will donate a case to nurses, doctors and other frontline workers.

Cases sell for about $40, available from the web site.

Co-founder Mitchell Stern told Samaritanmag that the company has already arranged deliveries for Toronto-based hospitals such as St. Mike’s, Mt. Sinai, Sunnybrook and others.

“We are tracking things and doing our best to spread the love,” Stern said. “We're a small business and we can only do so much, but this is something we feel strongly about supporting.

“At a time like this, we have a valuable product and that's coffee. There are people who are risking their lives and working long hours for the safety of others. If we can help in any way, we want to be involved. It's a simple way for us to say thank you and show our support.”

The “Brew Crew,” as they call themselves, is using social media to reach out to their network to help them identify frontline workers who would appreciate a case of Station Cold Brew. The team is focusing on healthcare workers at the moment but will be expanding their 1 for 1 deliveries over the coming weeks.

Added co-founder Steve Ballantyne: “These heroes are putting their, and their families, lives on the line each day to protect each one of us. I’m forever grateful to our brave nurses, doctors, paramedics, police, fire, and more, and all the support staff, plus the grocery store employees, the delivery people, and of course, the Station production staff. So many heroes. I wish I could help them all.”
